Meet Amarillys

Amárillys is a globally recognized SAATCHI Artist. Her work was recently featured at The Other Art Fair in Dallas, TX October of 2022.

She has a curious mind that is in endless pursuit of the complex beauty in the world around us. Her works are not simply a piece of art or an expression. She believes in the transforming power of a word fitly spoken… inspired by the Creator… so she takes time to listen and uniquely dedicate each piece with words that release healing, cause change, and inspire you to embrace the distinctive value you bring to this planet. This is how she approaches every canvas. Her works are truly life-giving showpieces to its collectors. Her pieces inspire viewers to reflect about the deeper meaning of life but they also greatly encourage and comfort in a unique way. Amárillys receives great joy in connecting with others through her art and loves to engage courageous people that value genuine, authentic relationships ...and that love having FUN!

When she’s not in front of the canvas wearing her signature paint-covered overalls she can be found wearing sassy heels, dancing with her husband, eating street tacos with her two handsome boys and delineating truth with Puerto Rican zeal. Truth, art and family are her passions.

Note from Amarillys

Ever since I was a little girl living in Puerto Rico you could find me creating with a pencil and paper or crayons, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that my heart was awakened to the love of painting. Standing in front of a blank canvas at a studio in the historic downtown where I currently live my heart raced with excitement at the creative possibilities to come in the next two hours. I mixed my beautiful teal color, dipped the brush, placed the first stroke on the canvas and the rest is history. That moment took my breath away as I had uncovered a passion I didn’t even know was in me. I have been working at my craft since then, but it wasn’t until 2020 that I decided to embark in the full-time artist journey.

I am inspired by the beauty and colors of the world around me and the impactful stories that create extra space for life and feeling beyond the natural… a little of Heaven on earth. My preferred medium is acrylic and my style is abstract expressionist. I love using thick texture for sculpture-like pieces as well as a vast array of colors that pop off the canvas with a little bling here and there.

In 2019 my family and I faced the greatest tragedy of our lives. My oldest son, at 17 years old, died tragically in an airplane accident. The ability to create art in the midst of grieving has brought great healing for me personally. Because I understand first hand the healing power of art one of my greatest desires is that the pieces I create bring healing and life to those who collect them. As the incredible Pablo Picasso said, “Painting is not done to decorate apartments. It is an instrument of war for attack and defense against the enemy.” I pour my heart into each canvas with this very thought in mind.
